Haruki’s The Parasite Doctor Suzune Manga Ends – News

Manga launched in 2004, inspired live-action films

The December issue of Takeshobo‘s Monthly Kissca magazine published the final chapter of Haruki‘s Kisei Jūi Suzune (The Parasite Doctor Suzune) manga on Monday. The manga’s 14th and final compiled book volume will ship in spring 2022.

The story of Kisei Jūi Suzune revolves around a female doctor who fights to destroy parasites that increase its host’s power and sexual desire. Suzune’s father, a genius parasite scholar, disappeared when Suzune was a child.

Haruki launched the manga in Takeshobo‘s Doki! magazine in 2004. The manga went on hiatus in 2014, and returned in May 2016 in Monthly Kissca. Project-H released part of the manga in English.

The manga inspired a live-action film adaptation starring actress Rei Yoshii (Bleach Rock Musical‘s Inoue Orihime). The film opened in Japan in 2011 along with a companion film, Kisei Jūi Suzune Evolution. North American video distributor Media Blasters released both films under its live-action label Tokyo Shock in 2013.

Seven Seas Entertainment has licensed Haruki‘s Cat in a Hot Girls’ Dorm (Joshi-Ryō Neko no Tama-san) and Ero Ninja Scrolls (Arakusa Ninpo-cho) manga. The first volume of Ero Ninja Scrolls shipped on November 2, while the first volume of Cat in a Hot Girls’ Dorm will ship on November 16.
